First quote versus surveyed proposal

An early figure can help you decide whether to continue. It should not pretend to be a complete specification. Before you commit, the proposed system should be checked against the building’s heat loss, hot-water needs, emitters, electrical supply, outdoor position and installation routes.

  • Heat pump make, model and output.
  • Radiator, pipework, cylinder, controls and electrical changes.

How to compare heat pump quotes fairly

Do not compare only the outdoor-unit price. Check whether each installer has included the same emitter upgrades, cylinder, controls, electrical work, removal, making good, commissioning and aftercare. A lower number can simply represent a smaller scope.

Ask each installer to explain the assumed flow temperature and seasonal performance. MCS guidance places design and consumer documentation at the centre of a sound installation process.
